First Botox Appointment

First Botox Appointment

Botox treatments have been used to help treat everything from fine lines to deep wrinkles, and from headaches to vision problems. More and more people are learning about the benefits of this treatment and are giving it a try. Those wanting to give Botox a try might be a bit intimidated because they do not know what to expect on their very first Botox appointment. Being prepared for that first appointment is key to having a better understanding of what to expect and will help reduce the levels of anxiety some patients may experience prior to treatment.

During the first Botox appointment, a medical professional at Aesderma MedSpa will sit down with the patient and discuss any areas of concern and overall goals for the treatment. This includes if a patient is looking to reduce wrinkles, crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles or get help with something else, such as chronic migraines. This gives our medical professional the understanding he or she needs to properly treat the patient. During this time, ask questions, bring up areas of concern and learn as much as possible about the procedure. This will help ease any possible anxiety, help ensure you are fully prepared and know what to expect.

Common Questions to Ask

Here are some of the most common questions asked prior to a person’s first appointment:

Should I get Botox?

There are many reasons to start Botox treatments and both men and women from ages 20 through 80 are undergoing these non-surgical cosmetic treatments. Speak with our medical professionals at Aesderma if you have areas of concern and not sure if Botox is the best course of treatment.

What does the treatment feel like?

It is okay to be concerned about pain, especially because the idea of needles being injected into the face can be quite intimidating. Just know this … the treatment is rather painless. There may be some discomfort during the procedure, but that dissipates quickly. There also might be some discomfort afterwards, but that goes away quickly too. Most patients say they do not feel any pain during and after the procedure.

What can Botox help me with?

Botox is a very popular cosmetic procedure. Many use it to treat fine lines, frown lines and wrinkles. There are some medical treatments available using Botox, including those that treat muscle spasms, severe sweating, chronic migraine headaches and some eye problems, such as crossed eyes. This treatment works by paralyzing the muscles in the target area, allowing skin and muscles to relax.

What is Botox?

Botulinum toxin (aka Botox) is a purified toxin, which means it contains no bacteria. Because it is a purified toxin, there is no risk of infection from the contents within the injection.

How long does the procedure take?

Depending on the area being treated, the injections can be completed in a lunch hour or during a quick appointment after work. Most treatments only take about five to ten minutes. It is a procedure that can easily be completed at Aesderma MedSpa and there is no recovery time.

How many injections are needed?

Botox treatments are not done with just one injection. It may take several small injections, spaced evenly across the target area. The actual number of injections depends on the target area and how large the surface area is.

How long until I see results?

Results may not be immediate. It can take a couple of weeks to see the full effects of the injections. The best results are achieved when the treatment is repeated every few months.

How long with the injections last?

When getting Botox treatments, it is necessary to return to have the procedure redone to renew the results. Botox injections will last approximately four to six months. The time depends on the individual patient and the quality of their skin. When signs of wrinkles start to reappear, contact us at Aesderma MedSpa to schedule an appointment. We might even set patients up with follow-up appointments ahead of time to ensure an appointment time is available.

Are there any side effects?

Though it is understandable why patients worry about this, there is no need to. After receiving injections, most people do not suffer from any side effects. There may be some swelling, redness and a little discomfort, but that will go away shortly after the procedure is completed.

First Appointment Recap

It is very important patients prepare for their first Botox appointment. A medical professional at Aesderma MedSpa will go over everything that is needed to be done during the consultation, including the fact that it is important to not take any medications or supplements which may thin the blood. These medications and supplements may include anything containing aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E or fish oil.

At the time of the consultation, the patient will be able to address any concerns and help ease their mind. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and be as prepared as possible before that first appointment.
