PRP injection treatment could be just the thing to make you look younger than ever. No matter your age, where you live or what you do, you always want to look younger and better. In southern California, it might be even more important to look younger. Here, in Hollywood, where everyone is either in movies or TV or looks like they might be, looking your best is paramount. With these injections (as well as several of our other treatments) you can look your best at age stage of life and every time of year. Below, we’ll discuss a bit about what these injections are, and how they can keep you look young and vibrant.
PRP Injection Treatment Explained
“PRP” is actually an acronym. It stands for “platelet-rich plasma.” Here at Aesderma, we can add them to your microneedling treatments. That way, you can get even more out of those. If you’re unaware, microneedling is a procedure where many incredibly tiny and sterile needles puncture your skin. Then, your skin produces more collagen and elastin to compensate. While it may sound a bit counterintuitive, this can actually make you look much younger. It can even be used to treat scars, acne and so much more.
Microneedling in and of itself is quite effective. Adding PRP to it can make it even more effective. For many, PRP (when added to microneedling) makes the skin look even tighter and younger. In other blogs, we’ve referred to microneedling as a “jumper cable” for your epidermis. As we age, our body produces less and less elastin and collagen, so the microneedling works as a booster. With PRP, it becomes even more of a boost. It can make your skin even tighter than before. PRP proves that your best skin doesn’t have to be behind you, and you don’t have to give in to the signs of aging at all.
PRP Benefits
When your skin starts thinning or showing other signs of aging, PRP can keep them at bay. Microneedling does a great job of beginning the elastin and collagen process, but PRP can make it even stronger and better. Beyond that, PRP has shown that it can help with issues that other kinds of treatments are unable to handle, like rosacea. We understand that you may not know if PRP is right for you when you come to us. That’s why we’re always glad to sit down with prospective patients to help them to figure out which is the best treatment for their needs.
One of the best parts about PRP is the targeting. PRP can get to those hard to reach areas that other forms of treatment just can’t. A clear example of this is the area just under your eyes. For many of this, this is the first place where the signs of aging will be apparent. Wrinkles, fine lines, and more – they can all be visible underneath our eyes. Moreover, on men and women, they can show up here before they show up anywhere else. How many times have you looked in the mirror and been surprised by how old your eyes looked? That’s exactly what PRP is here for.
With PRP, we can target that exact area. This may not sound like much but remember: a laser can’t really get to that. Even with the safest laser, there are concerns are about its efficacy so close to one’s eye. There are no such concerns with PRP. It can safely go anywhere, making even the hardest to reach skin look soft, supple, young and vibrant.
Additionally, the word “safe” has multiple definitions in cosmetic procedures. Certainly, “safe” means that “you can utilize this procedure without putting your health at risk.” However, “safe” can also mean that “this procedure uses entirely natural elements,” among other definitions. PRP is an incredibly safe procedure that only uses natural elements. After all, it’s your blood! The PRP doesn’t use any kind of strange, foreign or exotic chemicals or anything like that. Instead, it just uses a small sample of your own blood.
By that same token, it’s important to note that when we say “a small sample of your blood,” we mean that. This procedure uses a completely safe amount of blood, you won’t feel lightheaded or anything like that as a result of the blood used. While this procedure may be new to you, it’s certainly not a new procedure in general. It’s been used in hospitals and even sports medicine since the 70s. Of course, what we have on offer at the Aesderma MedSpa is far beyond what they could have imagined when PRP was coming to prominence in the 70s. The equipment, tech, and methods we use would look like something out of science fiction to even the most advanced practitioners of the era.
How PRP Works
The procedure itself is actually quite simple. You may have seen some dramatic pictures online of people who have used PRP treatment, where it looks like their face is covered in blood or something like that. The actual procedure itself is safe, sterile, secure, and rather mundane. When you get your PRP done here at Aesderma, you can take full advantage of our trained experts. They can make sure that your stay with us is completely comfortable and wholly effective.
So, when you arrive, you’ll go through the entire microneedling process. Where PRP differs is right around the middle of the process. While your face is numbing, a medical professional will draw a syringe of blood from your body. We usually draw it from your arm, but other arrangements can be made. Then, we take that blood and put it into a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins around and around, separating the blood from the PRP. After that, we take that PRP and gently massage it into your treatment area. Depending on the procedure, this happens after or during the microneedling.
As you may remember from reading about our microneedling, all of those tiny needles open up microscopic holes in your body. That’s what kick starts the collagen and elastin, your body produces them so as to fix those holes. Those holes, in turn, are also just the opening the PRP needs. The PRP penetrates those holes, going right into your skin. That’s really it. The PRP procedure is just that simple.
At this point, if you’re like many people, you may be wondering: “OK, that all sounds fine. How long is the recovery process?” After all, when you hear that something involves “many holes covered in blood,” it sounds like the kind of thing that could keep a person laid up in recovery for a long period of time. However, with our PRP, that’s not the case. Many people go back to work or school the very next day. You may have some redness, you may feel a bit tender or irritated for a day or two, but that’s about it. You’ll be well on the road to recovery once the procedure is complete, and you’ll be on the way to looking your very best soon.
PRP at Aesderma
Here, we can utilize PRP in a variety of ways. For example, we can apply it topically to the entire treatment area. Or, we can inject it intradermally. The latter procedure is typically used to take care of scars. The fact that PRP can get rid of scars is just one more way to show how many uses it has. We offer multiple kinds of PRP as well. You can get it for your face and neck, which performs the actions described above. However, you can also get it to restore your hair, too.
